PANS/PANDAS
PANS/PANDAS symptoms can seem to appear overnight, often following an illness or infection, or may sometimes have a more gradual onset. These may include OCD, tics, separation anxiety, eating restrictions, new bedwetting, recent trouble with handwriting or math, difficulty with focus, or emotional outbursts. It can be important to rule out underlying medical causes that may connect with PANS/PANDAS.
If your child is struggling with PANS/PANDAS, it can be hard to know where to turn for support and understanding. Early identification and intervention is important, and therapy plays an important role in supporting the family. It is also important to recognize that, in conjunction with therapy, it is most helpful when the underlying cause is also being treated medically.
If your family is struggling with this, feel free to reach out so you can have a space where you feel fully understood and supported.
